As Vice President of Philanthropy at Jamboree, Carlos leads the fundraising and philanthropy efforts for the organization. Carlos brings over 25 years of experience in nonprofit management and philanthropic leadership to Jamboree.
Prior to his role at Jamboree, Carlos significantly advanced Cal State Fullerton's fundraising efforts as Associate Vice President for College & Program Development, where he led the collective efforts for the University’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign, surpassing the $250 million goal and closing with over $270 million in philanthropic support. Carlos also served as the liaison for fundraising development to the college deans, vice presidents, and executive directors.
Before his tenure at Cal State Fullerton, Carlos served as the Chief Development Officer at Orangewood Foundation, spearheading annual fundraising for Orangewood and leading the initial capital campaigns that collectively raised $25 million to create Samueli Academy, a public charter high school in Santa Ana. His strategic development plans often surpassed Orangewood’s fundraising goals, significantly enhancing the foundation’s impact on the community.
Carlos earned a B.A. in Psychology from Cal State Fullerton, a B.S. in Human Biology from Southern California University of Health Sciences and obtained his certificate in fundraising management from Indiana University’s Lilly Center on Philanthropy. His education and nonprofit experience equip him with extensive knowledge on donor relations and philanthropic strategy. Carlos brings unique perspectives to Jamboree’s philanthropic efforts, serving on boards at the American Career College Educational Foundation, West Coast University Foundation and Fulcrum Nonprofit Leaders Professional organization. He is a lifetime member of the Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association, demonstrating his commitment to community service and educational advancement.
In his spare time Carlos enjoys traveling, golfing, cooking and spending time with his wife, Gwen, and their dog, Madison.
